Description
Technical Note - November 1962
Previously, it was not possible to change the sealing cuff on the half-axle without dismantling the side gear cover.
In order to be able to carry out a quick and perfect repair of the cuff, it was made in split form.
The following operations are necessary to change the cuff:
1.) Remove the lower metal apron front or back.
2.) Remove the broken cuff with the wire rings
3.) Insert the split gasket with the help of a screwdriver and let the cuff (Nose) stand vertically downwards.
4.) There are four holes at the cuff to hold the screws. In the two middle holes, the short clamping screws are pushed,
come with a washer on the head and two square nuts at the bottom. Lubricate the screws before mounting.
5.) Tighten the screws to the stop and lock them with square nuts by holding them with a wrench and tightening them to the head of the screw with
a screwdriver.
6.) Attach tension straps to the cuff in such a way that the small holes in the tension band are facing not the direction of travel.
7.) Insert long clamping screws so that the square nuts come to rest on the smaller side of the hole.
Do not tighten the clamping screws yet. Lubricate screws before installing.
8.) Turn the sealing cuff that the impact (nose) is not in the direction of travel and horizontal (Check the pictures)
9.) Tighten the long cap screws.
10.) Reassemble the lower apron.
